Family:

Gary & I met @ HSU in Abilene, Texas. He the farm boy and me the city gal. We were both very active in BSU life and members of the same college church. We were married June 6, 1987 in Campbell, California. He is my best friend, confidant and amazing partner in ministry. He leads our 55+ ministry and has been a faithful 2nd grade Sunday school teacher for over 2 decades. Kayla Ranae our firstborn was beautiful and born March 5, 1989. Her heaven-bound date was June 12, 1989 as she died of SIDS. Ryan our strong gentle giant was born 13 months to the day after Kayla. He is a fighter and has a strong story of God’s faithful hand of healing in his first 2 years of life. He thinks 1st graders are extremely cool and has served close to 10 years as a SS leader and also serves in AWANA. His love for playing his trombone began in middle school. His strength is a mighty tool that God uses in my life. Janae was born in 1994 and easiest child, ever in the history of the world, to raise. She loves kids as much as her mom. She is seeking God’s next plan for her life as she feels Him leading her on a new adventure after 6 years of teaching 1st graders. She is a faithful friend, listener and huge encouragement to all who know her. She lives in Norman with her husband, Nathan (our amazing extra son God gave us). He is a fantastic spiritual leader for her. They are both very active at Bethel Baptist in Norman leading in worship ministry, band, and teaching young adult career SS class. Adam was born in our very late 30’s and keeps us young. He is our passionate athlete and fisherman. He along with Gary and Nathan are graduates of our Men’s Institute. Adam is in Winfield, Kansas on an academic and football scholarship @ Southwestern College. His goal is to be a High School football coach. Adam’s ultimate dream would be to return to MHS Bronco football field serving as a coach!

Favorite Bible Verses:

Proverbs 3: 5-6 I have continually seen God to be trustworthy and faithful throughout my life. This verse continually reminds me that knowing God’s sovereign rule over all things is enough. Experiencing His guidance, ever-presence and continual love bring me such peace and direction. Trusting Him in all things brings peace, assurance, comfort & strength.

Romans 12: 1-2 Gary & I sang a song to each other at our wedding based on this scripture passage. We want our lives to be His, used up as an act of worship to Him. Always learning from Him, in our mistakes and failures, and continually clinging to the Lord as we strive to seek Him.

Favorite book of the Bible:  I have a lot of favorite books in the Bible for sure. Philippians would be one of my favorites. I love how God’s Words proclaimed through Paul, teaches us so much Biblical truth for our daily walk with Christ, striving for holiness. Paul reminds us of who he was and the transformational power of God in his life. He continually reminds us of who God is and the importance of keeping Christ the center of our lives. Great verses for Christian living. Awesome reminders of being content in all things and always striving for joy. Also a great reminder that our citizenship is not here on this earth but in heaven. Every day let us be heavenly focused, striving to live a life to bring God much glory and honor.

Favorite Bible character: Joseph is one of my favorite Bible characters. I love to see God at work throughout his life as Joseph continually seeks God knowing He is faithful and trustworthy. No matter what situation he faces, he knows God is in control. I love how Joseph acknowledges to his brothers that he went thru each trial to be placed exactly where God wanted him to be. “And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life…….And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. So it was not you who sent me here, but God” (Gen. 45: 5-8a). God used Joseph to save a remnant of His people, to continue to fulfill His promises. God is worthy of all of our worship and deserves all glory and honor.
